Heres a brief introduction of Chao Yang School.
Chao Yang School
Chao Yang School is one of the schools run
by the Association for Persons with Special Needs (APSN).
It was started on 11 January 1982 to cater to the increasing
number of ESN Children who were on the waiting list with 48 students spread out in five classes. By June 1983, the enrolment
had increased to 128.
Its former premises at 341 Clemenceau Avenue, was formerly occupied by Chao Yang Special School,
a Chinese school run by the Teoh Yeoh Huai Kuan. Its Chairman was Mr Teo Soo Chuan.
In September 1986, the school
was relocated to its present location at Anthony Road. In recognition of Mr Teo's support and the Teoh Yeoh Huai Kuan's contribution
to APSN, the Executive Committee of APSN decided to retain the name of the school at Chao Yang Special School and also appointed
Mr Teo Soo Chuan as the Patron of the school.
The present building was formerly Anthony Road Girls' School, and for
a short while, St Margaret's Primary School. Presently, the school has 10 classrooms, a hall, a canteen and rooms for various
activities.
